MASON CITY - Gloria J. Bailey, 65, of 410 Seventh St. N.W., died Friday, (Dec. 1, 2006) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa surrounded by her family.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kenneth Gehling of Holy Family Catholic Church officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the Gloria J. Bailey Memorial Fund.

Gloria Jean (Jimenez) Bailey was born on March 11, 1941, to John and Lupe (Martinez) Jimenez in Iowa City, Iowa. She attended Mason City Community Schools and is a 1960 graduate of Mason City High School.

Gloria was united in marriage to Harvey R. Bailey on Nov. 4, 1961, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City. Gloria gave birth to two sons, Anthony, in 1962, and Christopher, in 1966.

Gloria worked at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa for over 40 years as a nursing assistant. She worked on all the floors of the hospital at one time or another, but mostly on 5 East. She was well known for the handmade decorations she made for the hospital and friends. In addition, Gloria also worked at Prairie Ridge Treatment Center for the last ten years. She dedicated her life to helping mentally ill people and people with substance abuse problems.

Gloria enjoyed movies, going out to eat, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. The most important thing in Gloria's life was her granddaughters and the time she spent with them were her most cherished moments.

Gloria will be most dearly missed by her sons, Anthony Bailey, and wife, Sarah, of Mason City, Christopher Bailey, and wife, Shannon, of Tempe, Ariz.; granddaughters, Cassidy Bailey, Amanda Bailey, and Brittany Bailey of Mason City; brothers and sisters, Margaret Levenhagen, of Rockwell, Iowa, Delores McDowall, and husband, Mac, of Mason City, John Jimenez Jr., of Peterson, Minn., Louise Love, and husband, Phil, of Dubuque, Iowa, Jim Jimenez, of Mason City, Ed Jimenez, of Mason City, Tom Jimenez, and wife, Carmen, of Mason City, Ralph Jimenez, and wife, Laura, of Fort Meyers, Fla.; former husband, Harvey Bailey, of Mason City; and many, many nieces and nephews, and lots of special friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Jimenez; brother-in-law, John Levenhagen; and sister-in-law, Betty Jimenez.
