Jon Ernest Withers

April 14, 1942 - December 2, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our father, brother, uncle, and friend. Born on April 14, 1942, in Mason City, Iowa, Jon attended public schools there and graduated with the MCHS class of 1960. After graduating, Jon joined the U.S. Air Force, serving four years as an Air Policeman. He returned to Mason City, working various jobs, including painting water towers, as a glazer, and owning a bar and restaurant. In the late '80s, he moved to Florida, where he spent the rest of his life.

Preceded in death: parents Laurence Jack Withers and Georgetta June (Madden) Withers; sister, Judy Alice (Withers) Daniels; brother, David Laurence Withers.

Surviving sons: Christopher (Hitomi) Withers of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Scott (Lisa) Withers of Springfield, OH. Grandchildren: Sarah Withers of Springfield, OH, Erica, and Ernest Withers of Sierra Vista, AZ. Siblings: Jane Withers, Kansas City, MO; Diann Sewald, Green Valley, AZ; Dennis (Kim) Withers, Mason City, IA. Nieces: Lisa Sewald and Amber (Withers) Bongard, Denver, CO; Lynn Daniels and Jana Daniels of San Antonio, TX. Nephews: Brandon Withers of Canon City, CO, Steve Daniels San Antonio, TX, Kristopher (Heather) Lester of Garner, IA.

Jon was a NASCAR fan and supported many friends who raced stock cars. Upon cremation, his ashes will be scattered over his favorite hunting and fishing spots in Colorado and Wyoming.

Celebration of life will be held at the All-Veterans Center on South Monroe 1/17/2026, 3 to 5 p.m. Color Guard 3:30.
