Mason City - Judy K. Whitney, 71, of Mason City, died Dec. 8, 2012, at her home in Mason City.
Per Judy's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be designated to the Judy K. Whitney Memorial Fund in care of her daughter, Donna Jimenez, 1410 N. Ohio, Mason City.
Judy Kay Whitney, daughter of Joseph and Edith (Schafer) Gregory, was born Oct. 3, 1941, in Hampton, Iowa. Judy attended and graduated from Mason City High School in 1960.
She was united in marriage to Morley Lee and to this union, two children were born, Gina and Donna.
Judy worked for Wells Fargo Bank while Morley was in the service, stationed in California. After returning to Iowa in 1963, they moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where she worked as a vice president's secretary at Fidelity Bank. Several years later, they moved back to Mason City where she was employed at Sam Kennedy's in Clear Lake as a secretary for many years before working at the Globe Gazette in the newsroom, where she retired from.
Judy enjoyed art, movies and reading, especially James Harriett novels. She also enjoyed spending time with her pets.
She is survived by her two children, Gina Holt, Ankeny, Iowa, and Donna (Dan) Jimenez, Mason City; mother, Edith Whitney, Mason City; grandchildren, Sara (Ben) Schobert, Kansas City, Mo., Brandon Holt, Ankeny, Iowa, Levi Andersen, Mason City, Mariah Chavez, Mason City, Wesley Jimenez, Faribault, Minn., Jay Jimenez, Faribault, Minn., and Gabriel Jimenez, San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Schobert, Kansas City, Mo., and Danika Stock, Mason City; brother, Richard (Sharon) Whitney, Mason City, and sister, Sandra Thompson, Forest City; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and step-father, Robert Whitney.
