ROCKFORD | Douglas Jon McMannes, 72, beloved husband and father, died at Hospice of North Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, with a one hour visitation prior to the funeral, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Doug was joined in holy matrimony to Lynda Gettman on Sept. 14, 1963. To this union three children were born. Doug spent the better part of 15 years helping people find just what they needed as he worked at U.S. Cellular.

He was a patriot and avid volunteer, becoming a member in CERT, the Salvation Army Kettle Campaign, and in his younger years, extremely active in Boy Scouts, achieving Pro Deo et Patria and Life Scout. He also took joy in membership of the North Iowa Amateur Radio Club as well as several other local organizations. Doug believed strongly in the Second Amendment and was a man of God and country.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, M. Douglas and Enola McMannes, and a son, James Douglas.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Lynda; two children, Jeremy (Kari) McMannes and Jennifer (Joe) Groholski; three grandchildren, Austin and Connor McMannes and Christian Groholski; one brother, Rt. Reverend David McMannes; brother-in-law, Ron (Joani) Gettman; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Bob) Ornberg, Marvyl Buehner and Faye (Marlyn) Lee, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Those considering an expression of sympathy may wish to send a memorial in care of the Douglas McMannes Memorial Fund.
